This Cookie Policy explains how Chevvi Pty Ltd (ABN 54 682 793 602, "Chevvi", "we") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Owlish marketing site (owlish.bot), the Owlish admin console (console.owlish.bot), and the Owlish chat widget. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use related technologies — local storage, session storage, fetch beacons, and JavaScript SDKs — that work in similar ways. We refer to all of them as "cookies" in this policy for short.
2. Categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential to operate the site and cannot be turned off. They keep you signed in, protect against cross-site request forgery, remember your cookie preferences, and load the right region of our infrastructure.
2.2 Analytics
These cookies help us understand which features are useful and which aren't. They are off by default for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and only load if you accept them in the cookie banner. Outside those regions we rely on legitimate interest with the option to opt out at any time via the footer link.
2.3 Marketing
Reserved for future advertising or remarketing pixels. None are active today. If we add any, they will be added to this policy and to the cookie banner before they load.
3. Cookie inventory
| Name / pattern | Set by | Category | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cc_cookie | Owlish (vanilla-cookieconsent) | Necessary | Stores your cookie-banner choices. | 6 months |
__session, auth-* | Firebase Auth | Necessary | Keeps you signed in to the admin console. | Session / up to 14 days |
owlish_geo_country (localStorage) | Owlish | Necessary | Caches your country code so we don't re-fetch it each visit. | 7 days |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Distinguish unique visitors and aggregate sessions. | 13 months |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Distinguish unique visitors during a 24-hour window. | 24 hours |
ph_* (incl. ph_phc_…_posthog) | PostHog | Analytics | Pseudonymous user ID and event-buffer state. | 12 months |
owlish_session_* (widget) | Owlish chat widget | Necessary | Maintains the visitor's chat session ID so messages flow to the correct conversation. | Session |
If we add new cookies, this table is the source of truth.
4. How we ask for your consent
- If you visit from the EEA, the UK, or Australia, you'll see a cookie banner on your first visit. Analytics cookies are off until you opt in.
- Outside those regions the banner is suppressed; analytics load on a legitimate-interest basis. You can still turn them off any time via the footer link.
- If we cannot detect your country, we treat you as inside a consent-required region — the safer default.
- We use Google's Consent Mode v2: when consent is denied, Google Analytics receives only cookieless, aggregated pings — no cross-site identifiers.
5. Manage your preferences
To revisit or change your choices at any time, click . The same control is available from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page.
6. Browser and OS controls
You can also block or delete cookies using your browser settings. The exact steps vary, but here are starting points for the major browsers:
If you block cookies entirely, parts of Owlish (sign-in, the chat widget, your cookie choice itself) will not work.
7. Do Not Track
Web browsers used to send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Industry-wide, DNT was never standardised and most analytics tools have stopped honouring it. We rely on the cookie banner and Global Privacy Control (GPC) instead. If your browser sends a GPC signal we treat it as a request to opt out of analytics and any future advertising cookies.
8. The chat widget on customer sites
When you (as an End User) interact with an Owlish-powered chat widget on a customer's website, the widget stores a small amount of data in your browser to remember the conversation, and sends messages to Chevvi servers on the customer's behalf. The customer is the controller of that conversation and decides whether to display a privacy notice. Read the customer's own privacy policy or contact them directly for information about their use of the widget.
9. Third-party cookies
The "set by" column above shows which cookies are first-party (us) and which come from third-party providers. Third parties may use cookies subject to their own policies:
10. Changes
We will post any material changes here and update the "last updated" date at the top of the page. New cookies are listed in section 3 before they are activated.
